Remotely controlled digital labels on samples

Samples of our products are displayed at 24 showrooms worldwide. Each item is labeled by hand. This is a static process, which takes a lot of time, is expensive, and not the best solution environmentally. It would be a great efficiency boost if the items could be labelled, and if necessary re-labeled, remotely and digitally.
Please note: the information on the label must be legible to the human eye. So a QR-code or some such is not a solution.
